David grew up in the foundation drilling profession. Working with his older brother as soon as school let out for the summer, David began his career after finishing fifth grade at the early age of 10 with Joe G. Holy & Sons, a family drilling business in which his father, Henry G. Holy, was an owner. Upon graduating from high school, David worked full time contributing to the growth of the business. Shortly after the death of his father in 1999 and the division of Joe G. Holy & Sons, David formed Holy Drilling, LLC.
David’s drilling roots go back more than six decades. His grandfather, Joe G. Holy, a pioneer seeking work in Dallas, settled near Fair Park to raise his family. Joe found work with a foundation driller where they would hand dig pier holes which was hard manual labor. He was an innovator and had ideas to make the operation run more efficiently and less labor intensive. Joe engineered the first mobile drilling rig which is used across the United States today.
Branching out on his own, Joe formed his own drilling company set up shop behind the home he and his wife were raising their family. In 1961, Joe and his two sons formed Joe G. Holy & Sons. David’s father, Henry, who began working with the family business at a young age, played a key role in the growth Joe G. Holy & Sons which supported two growing families. Henry’s skills included acquiring the right equipment to ensure the reliability of the drilling rigs, ensuring safety at all jobsites, building and retaining customer relationships and maintaining efficiency in the overall operation of the business. Henry’s experience and knowledge contributed to the reputation of this family business as one of the most dependable drilling companies in Texas.
Like his father and grandfather, David’s innovative ideas and entrepreneurial skills have provided what is necessary for Holy Drilling, LLC. to be a leader in the industry.
